Our next-generation black EC smart dimming product pushes the limits of visual clarity and privacy. While the first generation offered basic transitions between light and dark, the new version achieves a far wider dimming range—brighter in the light state and darker in the dark—resulting in stronger visual contrast and effectively eliminating glare, even under intense sunlight.
● Bright Mode: Nearly fully transparent, it allows abundant natural light into the cabin, creating a bright, open atmosphere—far superior to conventional privacy films.
● Dark Mode: Blocks over 99.65% of light, significantly outperforming traditional automotive films (typically limited to 95%). This ensures complete privacy, even in low-light spaces like garages, where internal lights often compromise standard films.
Delivering this performance relies on cutting-edge wide-range EC materials and a highly transparent ion storage layer (IS layer)—a virtually invisible powerhouse capable of holding large electric charges, much like an optical-grade battery.
Pure Black Color Achieved Across Full Spectrum
True black absorbs all visible wavelengths (380–780nm). To achieve this, Ambilight solved a key industry challenge by enabling uniform absorption across the full spectrum—including the difficult 476–630nm range—while maintaining long-term reliability and stability.
This achievement mirrors challenges seen in OLED blue light development, where high-energy states cause instability, delayed response, and uneven coloring. Ambilight has now overcome these hurdles in EC material design.
